Do I need to charge GST?
Whether you must register for GST depends on Australian tax rules (for example turnover thresholds). FrogsWork cannot decide that for you. Talk to your accountant or check the ATO’s guidance on when you need to register for GST.
Why this matters
If you are required to register for GST, you must charge GST on taxable sales and issue tax invoices. If you are not required to register, you should not charge GST and should issue normal sales invoices instead.
If you are GST-registered
Mark GST registered on your business profile, add your ABN, and invoice with GST lines. FrogsWork produces tax invoice PDFs you can email to customers.
If you are not charging GST
You can still create and send sales invoices for your customers and keep records in FrogsWork for your own bookkeeping. These PDFs will use the “Invoice” label instead of “Tax Invoice.”
Problems FrogsWork helps you avoid
- Charging GST before registering with the ATO
- Leaving ABN off when GST applies
- Using “Tax Invoice” when not registered for GST
- GST mix-ups in spreadsheets. FrogsWork follows your registered setting on invoices.
